Beauty Review: Wild Argan Oil Line by The Body Shop

What’s the difference between a wild Argan Oil and a tame one?

(If anyone has a punchline to this joke, please let me know)

In the past, I have had a love/hate relationship with The Body Shop. I love their packaging, I love their stance against animal testing, and I love the scents of their products. However, all of those things are irrelevant if the products don’t actually work very well. Usually I find that their body butters and lotions are so heavily fragranced that the products provide only a superficial moisture. When you put the lotions on, it feels and smells great, but an hour later your hands and body are left feeling parched because the alcohol in the fragrance dries out your skin over time. I’ve noticed this happens with Satsuma in particular. Other than that, I basically love every other Body Shop product I’ve ever tried. Some of my favourites include the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion Scrub, the eyeshadow Shimmer Cubes, and their candles.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try out the new Wild Argan Oil line by The Body Shop. Let’s just say, I’ve been lathering myself in these glorious products ever since they arrived at my doorstep.

The first thing I went for was the Wild Argan Miracle Solid Oil for Body & Hair. This is a unique product. It is a solid, but then when you warm it up with your fingers, it becomes a liquid (much like coconut oil). It is too thick for my fine hair and left it weighed down and greasy (even though I just applied it to the very ends). I can see this working really well on someone with coarse hair. I use it on my cuticles and wherever I have particularly dry skin patches, like my elbows, knees, and feet. It leaves my skin super soft, absorbs quickly, and smells fantastic!

The next product I went for was the Wild Argan Oil Body Butter. Like I mentioned above, I have a love/hate relationship with the Body Shop body butters. However, this one is pure love. The delicate fragrance is very comforting, in a honey & oats sort of way. The butter leaves my skin super soft and the moisture lasts all day without being heavy or greasy.

The final product I tried from this line was the Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub, and this was probably my favourite of the three. It’s like a delightfully scented gel with millions of tiny little exfoliating beads in it, that doesn’t dry you out too much and leaves your skin as soft as a baby’s butt! I love that a little goes a long way with this stuff. Too often I find that a body scrub will only last me a couple uses, because most of the product ends up on the floor of my shower. However, with this stuff, one small scoop can cover my whole body!
